March 14th, 2011how much is too much for a mens wedding band?
January 25th, 2011I am getting married in six months and my boyfriend has expressed that he likes black diamonds. I have already picked him one out but have not gotten one yet. It is 600 is that too much for a weddiing band for the groom. Tell me what you have gotten your groom ladies and where and how much. Men what do you think about it. My boyfriend feels like most men just get a regular band for about 50 from walmart. By the way,we are not spending a lot of money on a wedding. We are actually considering the courthouse
Where can you find a black wedding band with a CZ/diamond in it online?
January 25th, 2011I received an email a while ago, and there was a black wedding band (mens) with a single CZ in the center around 40 dollars. it was amazing, and i thought it was on www.evesaddiction.com but I couldn’t find it again. Please help.
If a man has diamonds in his wedding ring is that considered feminine?
January 9th, 2011Ive heard people say that men should just have plain bands.
thank you so much for using common sense mickey, i would have never even thought about that. Man i have just got to get me some of this ‘common sense’
My boyfriend wants me to wear the diamond wedding band he bought before we are officially engaged?
January 9th, 2011I know this sounds confusing but my boyfriend and I know we will get married someday and already purchased our wedding bands. Due to working together and the merging of families we are going to wait awhile to get married or engaged. He wants me to wear my wedding band now on my ring finger and tell anyone who asks that is is a "gift". I think this is confusing and will have everyone thinking we are engaged. Plus it will eventually be my wedding band. And we will not be doing the traditional diamond solitaire ring so I will not be getting any other engagement ring down the road. I told him I wouldn’t wear it until we are officially engaged or married. Or maybe wear it on the other hand? What do you all think?
Also forgot to mention why we have the rings. They were limited edition from Tiffany’s and wouldn’t be around long so we bought them ahead.
Why is it the female gets the diamond ring?
January 8th, 2011When you get engaged or married the female always gets the diamond rings. The man gets a crummy wedding band. Who made this rule?(I’m sure a female)
Moissanite wedding ring paired with diamond engagement ring?
November 25th, 2010I have a lovely 3-stone diamond engagement ring with channel set diamonds. I am considering moissanite for my wedding ring. The wedding ring would be 5 moissanite stones in a band, and the total weight would be 0.5 carats. Would the moissanite look noticeably different sitting right next to the diamonds? I heard moissanites do not look as "fake" when they are small.
Is a moissanite a nice stone? Can it pass for a diamond?
November 24th, 2010We are shopping around for my engagement ring and the only thing in our price range is a 1/5 carat solitaire diamond.
I am thinking that i should get a different stone, in a real gold setting and just upgrade later.
Has anyone had any experience with moissanite? I want it to look and sparkle like a diamond so it can match my diamond wedding band (passed down from family)
What about white sapphire? I dont like the idea of cubic because i heard they fog and have no brillance.
Also, my wedding band is in platinum. I would like to get my engagement ring in white gold, will there be a difference in color between 14k gold and platinum? what about 18k gold?
Perse, when you say "the extra fire and brilliance will be the first thing to give moissanite away" do you mean that moissanite has more fire and brillance than a real diamond?
How should I ask for an engagement ring upgrade (+back story)?
November 24th, 2010I got married this summer to the man of my dreams, but I will not get into details about that now.
He has a good education, a decent income and is doing financially good. He’s not rich, but well off for his age. I am currently studying and work part time. When I am finished with my degree, I will also receive a high salary.
Our parents split the cost of our wedding and my parents paid for the honeymoon (as a wedding gift).
For our engagement a year ago, he gave me an anonymous 0.15 ct solitaire white gold engagement ring. He told me that he spent an entire afternoon looking for a ring that was slim and without prominent prongs, so that it would suit my slender figure. But my hands are average with average fingers and rounded nails, so the thin ring is not flattering. It is nothing like my style/personality – I like things to be "different" and noticeable. We have the same sense of style, so I actually find it a bit weird that he wound up buying this ring. I would prefer a non diamond ring at the same price over this, but it’s a bit late for that now.
Also, it bothers me that it was such a small sacrifice for him. Yes, he spent an entire afternoon going through four or five different stores (together with his mom whom I suspect has something to do with what he wound up buying, though I could never say that to his face). I usually spend weeks researching and looking for every Christmas and birthday gift I get him. The ring cost about 1/4 of his monthly salary, and he could easily pay for it with his everyday debit card (not digging into his savings account).
It looks better on my hand now that I also have a wedding band (plain white gold band with one .10 ct diamond and the possibility to add more diamonds), but with the diamonds being almost the same size, the engagement ring is even more anonymous.
He has much less reluctance for self splurge: Since we got married, he has bought himself two expensive watches. One costing 00 and 00. I of course let him, even though we are married it is mostly his hard earned money. Watching him pay for it, and watching how happy and proud these items make him has made me think about the ring again. Earlier in our relationship he has bought himself another two 00 watches, and a 00 coat. Come to think of it, for Christmas and birthdays, I will always (unintentionally) match whatever he spends (we usually wind up spending around 0-0 each). We both like to shop, and in general as he has a better income he buys himself more expensive stuff than I do. The most expensive things I have bought over the years we have been together, are gifts for him. I am just writing this to underline that we are equally materialistic. He’s more of a show off than me, and when it comes to gifts, compared to what he buys for himself, I feel like his 2. priority.
The thing is, I would like to buy a new stone for my engagement ring – nothing huge, but .35-.45., so it will suit my hand better and differ more from the wedding band. I will keep the setting. I would also like to keep the old stone to later mount it to my wedding band, if possible (if not, I’ll mount it to something else later). I would gladly pay for the upgrade myself, but I doubt he knowingly would allow that, as it is supposed to be a gift from him. I soon have to turn the ring in for resizing (it’s always been too big) and a polish, so I could just "secretly" do the upgrade then, but he would definitely notice eventually, and I can’t think of any good excuses to say in such a situation.
I find the ring change hard to bring up. This is such a touchy subject… I don’t think saying anything about the stuff that really bothers me would make the situation any better. I just hope that one day he’ll surprise me with something elaborate and unexpected, which he put a lot of effort in (not necessarily money wise).
I am sure he will feel a little hurt when I say that I want to change the ring. But if I had bought him a watch he didn’t like, he would not wear it in public. I would get over it, and prompt him to sell it so he could buy a watch he really liked. A couple of years ago I bought him a pair of shoes that I liked as a surprise gift, and they have never been worn. I would like to say to him "Imagine if I bought you a watch you didn’t like and you had to wear it every day for the rest of your life." but it’s too harsh.
Any suggestions on how to go about this?
Inb4 "it’s not about the ring, it’s about the commitment" – yes, we are committed, but I still have to wear a ring I don’t like, and even flaunt it to everyone who asks. If a girl bought a pink motorcycle for her macho boyfriend, no one would react to him wanting to exchange/upgrade it. If the ring I got was the best he could afford I would wear it proudly till the day I die, even though it doesn’t suit me.
PS: I had a hard time cat
I somehow managed to cut the last sentence, it’s supposed to read:
"PS: I had a hard time categorizing the question, it’s about marriage and NOT about divorce"
What the heck do people get for a wedding band when they get the 3 row pave engagement ring bands?
November 10th, 2010Maybe this is a silly question but for the life of me (and my future fiancé), we can’t figure it out!
We will be getting an engagement ring from Leon Mege. I was set on the pave band with the 3 rows of pave as opposed to the single row. On his website, an example would be the R908.
If I were to get the single row pave engagement band, then a single row pave wedding band would be flush with the engagement band. What the heck do people do when they get the 3 row pave engagement ring bands? Obviously when you have a strip of diamonds down the middle and both sides of the engagement ring band, and the same on a matching wedding band, won’t the diamonds always be rubbing against each other??? The single row bands have metal on the sides so they can come up right next to each other so how does it work with the 3 rows?? I’ve seen plenty of pictures of bridal sets with 3 rows on both bands, but never a picture of how it looks on someone actual finger?! And the ones I do see on pricescope, usually people write “pave bands” instead of “single row” or “3-row pave bands” so I can’t tell in the picture if I’m looking at single or 3-row.
I do see that Leon has a metal band that can go in between the two rings in his additional photos of the R908 if you wanted matching bands. #1- I don’t like it, and #2- wouldn’t the metal just get scratched??
Is there any way to have these rings sit flush with each other, or even have them welded together?
Wouldn’t having 3 rows on the engagement band and the wedding band defeat the purpose if the two rows that touch each other are basically now covered up by each other?? Isn’t that a waste of money on extra diamonds or am I just not envisioning it right???
Just to clarify I am talking about the pave BANDS only. The setting of the E-ring is a single stone solitaire on a pave band. Some bands have the single pave strip, in other words, a row of very small diamonds around the band. The one I am getting has three rows of very small diamonds around the band: one down the middle and one down each side… the pave diamonds curve with the band. The wedding band is the same deal and the pave diamonds curve with the band. So just wondering how that works when they are sitting right next to each other on the finger.
Do i have to wear a wedding band? Can I just have an engagment ring?
November 10th, 2010I have seen this gorgeous big diamond cluster ring but to put a wedding band with it is 1. pricey, because of the shape of the ring the band would have to be made to mould around the engagement ring and then the cost of having matching diamonds put on the band and 2, because the engagment ring is quite glamorous, an extra wedding band could be too much..so can I just get married with an engagement ring or for a church wedding, do I need a wedding band?
What do you think of a CZ wedding band?
November 9th, 2010What do you girls think of a fake diamond wedding band? Here’s one that I really like that’s sterling silver and CZs. What do you think?
http://www.emitations.com/carnabyclear.html
Too blingy?
JoeJess – That was a very stupid thing to say. You don’t know me and you don’t know what type of wedding I’m going to have! It was just a question because I liked the style!
CC – Did you see the pictures? It’s NOT A BIG RING?!
Can you wear your wedding ring without the wedding band?
November 8th, 2010If I wore my diamond solitaire without my wedding band (on my left and not my right finger of course)would it look odd? I just hate wearing two rings on one finger!!
Can a round diamond be re-cut to princess diamond?
November 7th, 2010I received a princess cut engagement ring. My mother wants to give me the diamonds from her wedding band to put in my wedding band and my fiance’s wedding band. I would like all the stones to be the same shape – princess. Is this possible?
Is it bad to have a wedding registry at a jewelery store?
November 4th, 2010For our upcoming wedding, We want to do that gift registry thing where the guests can go to our wedding blog website and look it up. We want to do this because we think it will avoid duplicate gifts, unwanted gifts, and dumb stuff. The thing is, I want to do the registry at macy’s where they have a jewelery department and i could get an engagement ring. He never gave me one, and my parents bought the weddings bands for us as a wedding present. So its not like he got me a nice band and skipped the engagement ring. I mentioned maybe a diamond wedding band like an eternity ring but he said no. So we just have plain platinum bands. I just feel its like tradition to have an engagement ring. both my sisters have nice engagement rings and wedding bands bought by their husbands. Im not bugging him to go buy me one, i just want the registry to be for it.
He wants to do a honeymoon registry instead because he wants to go to niagara falls canada for a week. We both split the cost of the wedding. And my uncle said he would like to give 0 for a wedding gift so i told my fiance it can go towards the honeymoon and we can save up like 0 for that. I just really want the registry to be at the jewelery store so i can get my ring. and i dont expect one person to buy me one, i was thinking of having a combined thing where all the guests can go and put some money and all the money goes toward it at the end and my fiance and i can pick one in that price range after the wedding.
I was thinking of doing a money registry instead, like they would just all give some money like my uncle is doing. and at the end, we can split it between us.
how can i have the registry for my engagement ring?
is this rude?
i mean, how would you ladies feel if you didnt have an engagement ring and just a band your parents got you??
Ok i realize that maybe putting it on the registry will not be a good idea because no one would go for it but should i just do the money registry? so my fiance and I get what we both want?
is it possible?

Do I really need to buy my fiance a diamond engagement ring?
October 31st, 2010Did you know that before the 1940s, women didn’t get diamonds on their wedding rings? They would just get a wedding band of some kind.
It wasn’t until the diamond company De Beers started paying film studios to feature scenes with women wearing diamond wedding rings that this new belief took hold.
They manufactured this new rule out of THIN AIR.
Do we have to follow this just because De Beers put this into our minds?

What setting to put my diamond in (wedding band)?
October 30th, 2010My tooo sweet fiance just purposed =)
He got on his knee with the box and it contained this Beautiful diamond. (The diamonds been passed down his family)
We took it to a jeweler for me to pick a band and I just cant decide!
Its .57 carrots, the jeweler says it the clearest diamond he’s ever seen!
So, I cant decide from two types of settings.
A plain band, or a band with LIGHT small diamond accents.
I want something that will always be time-less and show off my diamond SIZE and clarity.
Please and thank you tons!
What to do with wedding band during basic training?
October 30th, 2010I’m about to go into army basic training at Ft Leonard Wood. I’m married and my wedding band has diamonds so I don’t want to wear it. What are other females’ experience with wedding bands? Did you just not wear anything and risk being hit on? Did you buy a cheap ring to wear?
lost diamond on wedding day?
October 27th, 2010I lost a diamond from my wedding band on my wedding day. Is this bad luck?
My husband is divorcing me and wants the diamonds from the wedding band.?
October 26th, 2010There was no engagement ring, just a diamond in the wedding band. After 15 years, i think I have earned the right to keep it. Must it be returned?
Wedding bands for heart shaped engagement rings?
October 23rd, 2010I have a heart shaped engagement ring and I want to find a wedding band that fits next to it. However, because of the cut, it is almost impossible to find a wedding band that will follow along the point of the diamond. Where can I get something custom fitted for this ring and about how much would it cost for just a plain 14 ct white gold wedding band?
What do you think about this engagement and wedding ring set?
October 22nd, 2010Picking your brain about this ring combo. What do you think about this three stone cathedral setting engagement ring with channel set band worn with diamond wedding band? Do they go together and do you like them?

colored gems in my wedding bands?
October 18th, 2010Is it practical to have pink sapphires and diamonds in my wedding band? My engagement ring has a round brilliant cut stone and the band has seven round diamonds on each side, all are white BTW. I’ve seen a couple wedding/anniversary bands that have round pink sapphires and white diamonds on them. I think they’re gorgeous and my wedding color is bright pink. Would it be weird to incorporate that into my ring set?
